The Rail India Technical and Economic Service (RITES) has submitted the draft Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Jaipur Metro Phase 2, according to officials from the Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation (JMRC). The state-owned consultancy was awarded a Rs 46 million contract in November to prepare the plan.

Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and his team have already reviewed the draft and suggested changes to the proposed route and station locations. These recommendations will be incorporated into the final DPR, which will be forwarded to the Centre for approval.

The final green light will come after a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is signed for the project. Tenders for construction will follow, with the entire process expected to take 3–4 months.

The 40-km corridor will stretch from Sitapura to Sikar Road and include 35 stations—34 elevated and 1 underground. The estimated cost is over Rs 100 billion, and the line is expected to benefit nearly 2.5 million commuters.

During a recent review, the CM directed planners to prioritise future growth and ease of access. He emphasised connecting key areas like Sitapura, Ambabari, and Vidyadhar Nagar, while also advising that stations be placed near major transport hubs like railway stations and airports.

Officials say the project will play a critical role in easing congestion and supporting Jaipur’s expanding population. Once approved, it will mark a major step forward in the city’s push for integrated and sustainable urban mobility.
