Jaipur Metro Phase 3 construction set for september launch

Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, is gearing up for the commencement of Phase 3 metro construction in September this year. This ambitious expansion aims to weave an intricate network of metro lines across the city, representing a significant stride toward improved connectivity and urban transformation.

Reported by The Pink City Post, the expansion plan includes metro lines stretching from Sitapura to Ambabari, with additional routes under development: Badi Chaupar to Transport Nagar and Mansarovar to Ajmer Road, spanning a total distance of 55.2 km. The project boasts a substantial investment of $57.84 billion.

Rajasthan's Chief Minister, Ashok Gehlot, unveiled the project during a Housing Board event. He disclosed that the 2.85-kilometer metro track from Badi Chaupar to Transport Nagar would be realised with a budget of $9.8 billion. The foundation stone for this route is slated to be laid in a September ceremony, following a finalised written request. Furthermore, a 1.35-kilometer stretch from Mansarovar to Ajmer Road is set to be inaugurated in September at a cost of $2.04 billion. The majority of the funding, approximately $46 billion, will be allocated for the 23.51-kilometer segment from Sitapura to Ambabari.

The Phase 3 expansion promises transformative routes for Jaipur's transportation landscape:

  • Sitapura to Ambabari: Spanning 23.51 kilometres with 21 strategically positioned metro stations, this route connects iconic landmarks and bustling areas, serving as a lifeline for the city.
  • Badi Chaupar to Transport Nagar: Covering 2.85 kilometres, the route integrates both elevated and underground sections, ensuring seamless travel.
  • Mansarovar to Ajmer Road: Encompassing 1.35 kilometres, this elevated route offers a bypass solution.

Currently spanning 11.3 kilometres between Badi Chaupar and Mansarovar, the existing metro takes 26 minutes for a one-way journey, costing around $31.49 billion and taking over a decade to complete. The Phase 3 expansion marks a transformative leap forward in Jaipur's transportation evolution.
