Jakson Lowest Bidder For Chennai Metro Corridor-4 MEP Works

Chennai Metro Rail Limited has declared Jakson Limited as the lowest bidder for a contract to execute electrical, plumbing and fire protection works for eight underground stations on Corridor-4 of the Chennai Metro Rail Project Phase II.

The contract, estimated at around Rs 1.5 billion, covers stations between Light House Metro and Kodambakkam Metro. The tender carried a completion period of 1,630 days. Technical bids were opened on April 16, 2025, with four firms qualifying, followed by financial bids opened on September 17, 2025. Financial evaluation was completed on December 18, 2025.

Jakson Limited emerged as the lowest bidder with a quoted value of about Rs 1.64 billion. Blue Star Limited bid around Rs 1.64 billion, IRCON International Limited quoted approximately Rs 1.76 billion, while Universal MEP Projects & Engineering Services Limited submitted a bid of about Rs 1.87 billion.

The scope of work includes supply, installation, testing, commissioning and training for electrical, plumbing and fire protection systems across the eight underground stations. It also covers associated infrastructure such as bored tunnels between stations, cut-and-cover boxes, U-sections and ramps between chainages 0+173 m and 9+949 m on Corridor-4 of Chennai Metro Phase II.

The award is expected to support timely execution of critical systems for the underground stretch, a key component of Chennai’s expanding rapid transit network.
