The Commissioner for Railway Safety (CRS) has approved the recently completed Katra-Reasi section of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail project in Jammu & Kashmir, paving the way for regular train services between Jammu and Srinagar. Trains on this route will be permitted to run at a maximum speed of 85 kmph on normal tracks and 15 kmph on the station loop line. 

For security reasons, the service will operate only during the day, with separate boarding arrangements at Katra for trains heading to Srinagar, alongside stricter security checks. Currently, there will be no non-stop trains from Delhi or other cities to Srinagar, according to sources. 

The CRS has outlined several conditions that need to be met before regular operations begin, with railway officials confirming they will fully comply with the safety guidelines. While the official date for the inaugural run has not yet been announced, it is expected to take place later this month.
