Jammu Tawi Station Redevelopment Gains Momentum

The General Manager of Northern Railway, Ashok Kumar Verma, conducted a detailed inspection of redevelopment works at Jammu Tawi Railway Station, signalling major improvements in passenger facilities and station aesthetics.

Accompanied by Divisional Railway Manager Vivek Kumar and other senior officials, Verma also reviewed safety and modernisation works on the railway bridge over the Ravi river and at multiple stations across the Jammu division. The inspection forms part of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, under which stations are being upgraded in line with defined standards and timelines.

Officials assessed ongoing development initiatives including platform upgrades, station beautification and the installation of modern passenger amenities such as lifts and escalators. The focus remains on enhancing safety, comfort and accessibility for passengers while ensuring smoother station operations.

Railway officials said the redevelopment of Jammu Tawi aims to transform it into one of North India’s leading world-class stations, offering improved convenience and a significantly upgraded travel experience for the millions of passengers who pass through the station each year.
