By December of this year, Kolkata Metro hopes to have the Sealdah to Howrah Maidan Metro line completed. With Sealdah, the Metro line connects to Salt Lake Sector-V, which is open. In contrast to the allocation of 11,000 million for the financial year 2022–23, an amount of 10,000 million has been given to Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation Limited (KMRCL) for the building of the green line, which is Howrah Maidan to Salt Lake Sector–V. In 2022, Sealdah to Salt Lake Sector-V of the metro line began commercial service. Esplanade to Howrah Maidan's 4.8 km stretch is finished, but between Sealdah and Esplanade, the 9,000 project is plagued by subsidence problems.

During the current fiscal year, 32,202.5 million dollars were allocated for Metro projects, compared to 12,162.5 million dollars during the previous fiscal year. This is an increase of 164.77% from the previous year. This included 500 million for the Baranagar-Barrackpore Metro project and 6,200 million for the Noapara to Barasat Metro project. In addition, the budgetary allotments for the Joka Esplanade and the New Garia Airport grew by 242.86 and 285.71 percent, respectively. The amount is now 208.2 million, a 51.20 percent increase in the budgetary allotment for track work.

Noapara to Bimanbandar, Taratala to Majerhat, and Hemanta Mukherjee to Salt Lake Sector-V are to be finished by October of current year, according to Kolkata Metro's 2023–24 and 2025–26 timelines.
