Kolkata Metro will extend operating hours and increase train services on its Blue Line and Green Line from July 27, offering earlier first trains, later last services and more daily trips to improve commuter connectivity. The authority said the first train on both corridors will depart at six am and the last service on weekdays and Saturdays will leave at 10.30 pm. Previously the Blue Line began at six fifty am and ended at nine forty-four pm, while the Green Line began at six thirty-nine am and ended at 10.05 pm.

The change is intended to provide earlier morning connectivity and extended evening options on weekdays and Saturdays, and to increase the frequency of trains on both corridors. On Sundays services will continue to commence at nine am but the last train will now depart at 10.30 pm. The metro organisation said the adjustments respond to passenger demand and operational considerations.

The Blue Line, which runs between Dakshineswar and Kavi Subhash, will operate 272 services on weekdays, 258 on Saturdays and 158 on Sundays. The Green Line, connecting Sector V and Howrah Maidan, will operate 236 services on weekdays, 212 on Saturdays and 111 on Sundays. The new schedules increase the total number of daily services compared with the earlier timetable.

The revised timings and service counts will take effect from July 27 and the metro operator advised commuters to consult the official timetable for station specific departure times and any further updates. Officials emphasised that the enhancements aim to reduce waiting times and support travel during early and late hours. Commuters are expected to benefit from more frequent services and the extended operating window.
