Kolkata Metro's North-South Line to use UPI for major functions

Soon, passengers traveling on Kolkata Metro's North-South Line will have the convenience of purchasing tickets or recharging smart cards using UPI, according to an official announcement . Currently available on the Sector V-Sealdah segment of the East-West Line, this feature will soon extend to the Howrah Maidan-Esplanade section of the corridor. Plans are underway to introduce this facility across all metro stations on both the North-South and East-West Lines. Additionally, it will be available on the New Garia-Ruby segment of the Orange Line and the Joka-Taratala segment of the Purple Line in the future. The UPI-based ticketing system was first implemented at Sealdah station on the East-West Line on May 7. Passengers can simply scan the QR code displayed on the ticket counters after the ticketing officer enters the destination station's name to complete their payment through UPI.
