L&T will have to compete for the new Metro line

The engineering and construction conglomerate Larsen & Toubro (L&T), which built the Hyderabad Metro Rail, is not the obvious choice to build the Airport Express Metro project.

The proposed 31-kilometer high-speed metro rail project will be carried out by Hyderabad Airport Metro, as the Telangana government has decided to carry it out as a state-owned project in order to achieve the state's vision of making Hyderabad a global city.

New tenders would be issued for the project, but the process would be lengthy. L&T was reportedly dissatisfied with the current project, particularly its financial aspects. According to reports, L&T will take part in the tender process, and if chosen, they would only be responsible for the project's construction.
