Mappls Wins Praise From Railway Minister, Shares Rise 2 per cent
The minister announced that Indian Railways would soon sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the homegrown mapping platform to enhance its transport and logistics systems.
In a social media post, Vaishnaw shared his positive experience using the app, commending its advanced navigation and safety features. A video accompanying the post demonstrated Mappls’ ability to offer 3D junction views of flyovers, underpasses, and roundabouts, along with real-time alerts for speed limits, accident-prone zones, sharp curves, speed breakers, and traffic signals.
The application also helps users estimate trip costs based on vehicle type, fuel type, and applicable tolls, and integrates seamlessly with FASTag Annual Passes. Additional features include tools for speed compliance and safety navigation across complex road networks.
Developed entirely in India, Mappls positions itself as a swadeshi alternative to Google Maps. Last week, MapmyIndia urged the government to mandate pre-installation of Mappls on smartphones produced under the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme to promote the use of indigenous mapping technology.

On a consolidated basis, C.E. Info Systems reported a 28.73 per cent rise in net profit to Rs 461.1 million, while net sales increased 19.82 per cent to Rs 1.22 billion in the quarter ended June 2025, compared with the same period last year.
