MMRDA plans new town along Navi Mumbai's Harbour for economic growth
As significant infrastructure projects such as the Mumbai-Trans Harbour Link (MTHL) and Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) approached completion, it was expected that Navi Mumbai would become easily accessible from Mumbai and other parts of the country.
Haresh Chheda, the immediate past president of the Builders Association of Navi Mumbai (BANM), mentioned that the proposed new town would distinguish itself from others. He stated that the new town would initially focus on developing infrastructure, with housing projects following subsequently. Chheda further explained that due to the project's location along the coastal area, with one side facing the sea and the other facing a creek, it was poised to become another sought-after area in Mumbai.
Although MMRDA had not disclosed specific details of the plan, it was gathered that the new town would be situated in the vicinity of MTHL. An official from MMRDA commented, "The MTHL is landing near Chirle village, and in the years to come, we will witness significant infrastructure development in the area."
