Modern Warehouse Planned at Bari Brahmana Railway Station

Northern Railway has decided to develop a modern warehouse and storage facility at Bari Brahmana railway station in Jammu Division, in a move aimed at strengthening rail-based freight and logistics infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir.

Tenders have been invited for the development and operation of the facility under the Cargo Related Facility (CRF) scheme. The project is being implemented in accordance with the Ministry of Railways’ Master Circular on Rail Logistics and Cargo Related Facilities Policy issued on October 4.

Railway officials said the warehouse would provide secure storage for goods and support faster loading and unloading operations. The facility is also intended to improve supply chain efficiency and encourage private sector participation in the modernisation of railway infrastructure.

Uchit Singhal, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, described the project as a landmark initiative for Jammu Division and Northern Railway. He said it was the first project in the zone under the CRF policy and would benefit traders, industrialists and farmers in the region.

Singhal said the objective was to create modern logistics infrastructure that reduced the time and cost involved in cargo handling. He added that the facility would make rail-based logistics more competitive, create employment opportunities and support the regional economy. He also invited industry stakeholders to participate in the e-tendering process and said implementation would be transparent and efficient.

The proposed warehouse is expected to strengthen freight movement by rail and support industrial and commercial activity in the Jammu region. Its development would also expand the range of cargo-related services available at Bari Brahmana station.
