Modi set to unveil MMTS Ph-II routes & railway terminal in March
For an extended period, commuters eagerly awaited the opening of the Sanathnagar-Moula Ali section, enduring pollution and traffic congestion during their journeys. Typically, the travel time by personal vehicle between these two locations takes approximately an hour in heavy traffic conditions. Once the MMTS service becomes operational, the travel time is expected to be reduced to 30 minutes.
Additionally, a considerable number of passengers currently rely on buses to travel from Ghatkesar to the city centre. With the imminent completion of the new railway line, these passengers will have the convenience of reaching the city more easily through MMTS services.
According to the agreement between the railways and the state government, this project is a cost-sharing initiative, with one-third of the cost to be covered by the railways and the remaining two-thirds to be shared by the state government. The estimated cost of the project was Rs 8.16 billion, resulting in a railway share of Rs 2.72 billion and the state's share of Rs 5.44 billion. Railway officials have reported that the project has already incurred an expenditure of Rs 8.35 billion thus far.
