Mumbai’s suburban rail network will operate 12 special trains in the early hours of January 1 to manage passenger movement during New Year celebrations, railway officials said on Thursday.
Of the total services, eight will be run by Western Railway and four by Central Railway. A Central Railway spokesperson said two special trains will operate on the main line between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and Kalyan, while two additional services will run on the Harbour line between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and Panvel.
All four Central Railway special services will halt at every station along their respective routes, the spokesperson added, ensuring wider accessibility for passengers travelling during the festive period.
