Nalgonda Railway Station Nears Completion of Rs 170.1 mn Redevelopment
The station caters to nearly 3,000 passengers daily and handles about 44 trains, including diesel electric multiple unit and mainline electric multiple unit services. Located on the Nadikudi–Bibinagar section, it serves as a key rail link for commuters travelling to Hyderabad, Secunderabad, Kacheguda and Lingampalli for employment and business. The daily flow and train mix make the station an operationally significant point for suburban and regional services in the division.
Redevelopment works include construction of a 12-metre-wide foot over bridge, additional platform shelters and improved circulating areas with landscaping. Platform resurfacing, renovation of waiting halls, a VIP lounge and upgraded toilets form part of the scope, together with installation of lifts and Divyangjan friendly facilities. Accessibility upgrades and platform resurfacing are intended to reduce congestion and support safer boarding and alighting during peak hours.
Modern signage, new furniture and facade improvements are being installed to enhance the station environment and passenger convenience. Once completed the upgrades will ease movement across platforms, improve accessibility and raise the overall quality of services for daily commuters and visitors to the town. Local residents and regular commuters have been watching progress closely as contractors complete finishing works and railway staff prepare for handover and routine maintenance. The improvements are set to provide long term benefits to mobility and comfort in the area.
