Narrow-Gauge Trains To Resume In Himachal’s Kangra Valley

Northern Railway will resume narrow-gauge train operations in the Kangra Valley of Himachal Pradesh from 5 December, officials announced. Services had been suspended after heavy rains and landslides disrupted routes in September.

Senior Divisional Commercial Manager of the Jammu Division, Uchit Singhal, said narrow-gauge trains will initially operate two pairs between Baijnath Paprola and Kangra, and one pair between Baijnath Paprola and Joginder Nagar. These services were halted during intense monsoon conditions earlier this year.

With restoration work on the route now complete, Divisional Railway Manager Vivek Kumar has approved the reopening of narrow-gauge operations. Singhal said the resumption will boost tourism and offer a vital transport link for local residents. Passengers have been advised to verify schedules before travelling.
