The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) announced the completion of the civil construction of a 280-metre-long foot-over-bridge (FOB) connecting Sarai Kale Khan Namo Bharat station to Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station.
Equipped with six travelators, the FOB will enable smooth and convenient pedestrian movement between the two major transport hubs. With the construction work completed, NCRTC has also removed barricades from the road leading to Hazrat Nizamuddin station, fully reopening it for public access.
The road surface has been upgraded with a fresh tar blacktop to improve durability and extend its lifespan, offering significant relief to commuters navigating the often-congested Sarai Kale Khan area. The new infrastructure aims to ease traffic, improve safety, and facilitate better commuter movement.
Located approximately 300 metres from both Sarai Kale Khan Namo Bharat station and Hazrat Nizamuddin station, the FOB was developed to provide safer and more convenient pedestrian access between rail and metro services. It is particularly beneficial for women, elderly individuals, children, differently-abled persons, and passengers carrying luggage.
Sarai Kale Khan, a major transit hub for lakhs of daily commuters, has long faced challenges of heavy crowding, chaotic traffic, and difficult pedestrian movement. The new FOB is expected to address these challenges and significantly enhance connectivity.
Upon completion, Sarai Kale Khan station, a vital node on the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Namo Bharat corridor, will offer seamless integration with the Delhi Metro’s Pink Line, Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station, and the Veer Haqiqat Rai ISBT.
