Rail connectivity between Rajasthan and Delhi is set for a major upgrade with the introduction of a new Vande Bharat Express connecting Bikaner and Delhi Cantt. The announcement was shared by Bikaner MP and Union Minister of State for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal, who confirmed approval for the new service.
The journey from Bikaner to Delhi will now take just a few hours, significantly reducing travel time and improving passenger comfort. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, in a letter to Mr Meghwal, said the train would not only cut journey time but also stimulate tourism, business, and industrial growth.
Mr Meghwal described the new train as a “historic gift for the people of Bikaner”, noting that it would make daily travel safer and more convenient while supporting the pace of industrialisation and tourism development. He also highlighted that redevelopment work at Bikaner’s railway stations is progressing in parallel, further enhancing the region’s infrastructure.
The Minister expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for extending the service to Bikaner.
Rajasthan already operates four Vande Bharat Express trains, linking its major cities to destinations within and outside the state. These include:
- Ajmer–Chandigarh Vande Bharat Express (20977)
- Jaipur–Udaipur City Vande Bharat Express (20980)
- Jodhpur–Sabarmati Vande Bharat Express (12461)
- Udaipur–Agra Cantt Vande Bharat Express (20981)
The addition of the Delhi–Bikaner service marks a further strengthening of the state’s high-speed rail network, giving a new push to connectivity and economic activity in the region.
