Indian Railways is set to introduce nine new Amrit Bharat Express services connecting Assam and West Bengal with major destinations across India, expanding affordable and comfortable long-distance rail travel. The new trains will strengthen connectivity to states such as Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, while also linking eastern and northeastern regions with Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Karnataka.

Designed to meet rising passenger demand, the new services will cater to long-distance travellers, migrant workers, students and families by offering modern non-AC sleeper travel at transparent and affordable fares, with no dynamic pricing. The initiative builds on the growing Amrit Bharat Express network, which focuses on comfort, safety and reliability for everyday passengers.

Since the launch of the Amrit Bharat Express in December 2023, 30 services have already become operational. With the addition of nine more trains, rail links from the eastern and sub-Himalayan regions will extend deeper into southern, western and central India, supporting economic and social mobility.

The new routes include services from Guwahati to Rohtak, Dibrugarh to Lucknow, New Jalpaiguri to Nagercoil and Tiruchirappalli, Alipurduar to Bengaluru and Mumbai, and multiple Kolkata-origin services to Tambaram, Anand Vihar and Banaras. These corridors are expected to become vital lifelines for regions with high migration and long-distance travel needs.

Passengers on Amrit Bharat Express trains will benefit from modern amenities such as comfortable seating and berths, foldable snack tables, mobile charging points, improved toilets, fire safety systems and facilities for divyangjan passengers. Pantry cars and passenger-friendly interiors further enhance the travel experience.

By combining modern design with affordable fares, the Amrit Bharat Express reinforces Indian Railways’ commitment to inclusive and passenger-centric rail modernisation, ensuring that comfort and convenience are accessible to the wider public.
