Indian Railways under the Ministry of Railways has delivered more than 10,300 million tonne (mt) of Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) in more than 600 tankers to several states across the country as a relief in this raging Covid-19 pandemic.

Overcoming all hurdles Oxygen Expresses have been delivering nearly 800 million tonnes (mt) of LMO to the country every day.

The railway ran two Oxygen Expresses from Gujarat early this morning despite an upcoming cyclone and delivered 150 mt of oxygen to several states.

One Oxygen Express from Vadodara left at four in the morning with two Roll-on and Roll-off (Ro-Ro) trucks and 45 mt of LMO for delivery in the Delhi area.

The other Oxygen Express departed Hapa at 5:30 am to deliver oxygen relief in the Uttar Pradesh (UP) and Delhi area with six tankers loaded with 106 mt.

First Oxygen Express from Bokaro to Punjab is also set to reach Phillaur at seven in the evening today with two tankers with 41.07 mt of oxygen relief.

On 24 April 2021, Oxygen Expresses began their deliveries in Maharashtra with a capacity of 126 mt.

Across the country, railways is delivering oxygen relief from places like Hapa and Mundra in the West and Rourkela, Durgapur, Tatanagar, Angul in the East to States of Uttarakhand, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh (MP), Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Haryana, Telangana, Punjab, Kerala, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh (UP).

The railway is creating new standards and unprecedented benchmarks in running Oxygen Express Freight Trains to ensure oxygen relief. Around 160 Oxygen Expresses have made their journey so far and have brought aid to various States.

Railways have planned various routes with oxygen supply locations and kept themselves ready with any emerging requirement of the states.
