PIB Clears Two New RRTS Corridors for NCR Expansion

The Public Investment Board has recently cleared two new Namo Bharat rapid rail corridors linking Delhi with key urban and industrial centres in Haryana. Together valued at Rs 65,000 crore, the Sarai Kale Khan–Bawal and Sarai Kale Khan–Karnal projects will now move to the Union Cabinet for approval.
The 93-km Sarai Kale Khan–Bawal route will follow the NH-8 belt, passing Manesar and Bawal, and will include around twenty-two stations once fully extended. The 136-km Sarai Kale Khan–Karnal line will connect major northern towns such as Sonipat and Panipat, supported by a completed DPR.
At present, the Delhi–Meerut corridor remains the only operational RRTS route, with a 55-km stretch between New Ashok Nagar and Meerut South already in service.
