Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the Churu rail doubling projects, covering works valued at Rs 900 crore (Rs nine bn), in a ceremony in Churu. The projects comprise track doubling on key sections to enhance capacity and operational flexibility in the region. The initiative forms part of broader efforts to modernise network infrastructure and improve travel times for passengers and freight. The prime minister noted the government's focus on connectivity and regional development.

The works include laying a second line along previously single track stretches and associated civil works to support higher throughput. Project execution has been carried out by Indian Railways and its engineering divisions, with funding allocated from central resources. Construction activity involved engineering surveys, earthworks and laying of permanent way while coordination with local authorities was arranged to minimise disruption. Completion timelines were established by the responsible railway divisions.

Officials said the doubling will improve punctuality and reduce delays by permitting simultaneous movements in both directions, which will raise line capacity and operational reliability. The enhanced infrastructure will support increased freight movement from local industries and will offer passengers more frequent services and reduced journey times. Station works and signalling adjustments are being synchronised with track laying to deliver integrated benefits. Stakeholders expect long term gains for economic activity in the district.

The project is presented as an example of sustained investment in rail infrastructure and is aligned with national priorities for logistics and connectivity. Authorities noted the importance of maintenance regimes and asset management to preserve gains after commissioning and committed to follow up works as required.
