PM Modi to Inaugurate Delhi-Meerut RRTS Section

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate a 17 km priority section on the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor, as announced by NCRTC officials. These RRTS trains resemble metro trains in appearance but offer enhanced features such as luggage carriers and mini-screens.

The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) is overseeing the construction of India's inaugural Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) connecting Delhi and Meerut. The complete 82.15 km Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS is slated to be operational by June 2025.

RRTS trains are equipped with commuter-friendly amenities, including overhead luggage racks, Wi-Fi, mobile and laptop charging at every seat, a premium class car with more space and coat hangers, and vending machines. These trains also accommodate passengers with disabilities and have stretcher space for medical emergencies. They feature dynamic route map displays, and emergency communication systems, and adhere to international safety standards with fire detection systems.

Platform screen doors and dedicated pick-up and drop-off areas are among other notable RRTS features. The majority of RRTS stations are accessible via three to four stories, equipped with lifts and escalators.

Furthermore, it was revealed that the primary section's operational staff will consist of more female employees than males.
