PM Modi to lay foundation for redevelopment of Udaipur railway station

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the groundwork for the redevelopment of Udaipur Railway Station to provide world-class amenities to the public. The railway administration approved Rs 354 crore in January 2023 for the development of the Udaipur railway station into a world-class station.

During the redevelopment, a number of facilities and amenities will be added, including car parking, separate arrival/departure gates, a security checking area and a 72-metre-wide concourse area with 20 new lifts and 26 new escalators in the main station building.

The station's two footbridges will be linked to the sky walk. There is an unreserved waiting room, an executive waiting room, retail stalls, toilets, a baggage scanner, a coach indicator, and a variety of modern passenger amenities will also be provided at the station.

PM Modi will also lay the groundwork for the gauge conversion project as well as the construction of a new line from Nathdwara to Nathdwara town in Rajsamand.

The Prime Minister will launch development projects worth over Rs 5,500 crore in Rajasthan during his visit. He will dedicate to the nation three national highway projects: the 114km long six-lane Udaipur to Shamlaji section of NH-48; the 110km long widening and strengthening to four lanes with a paved shoulder of the Bar-Bilara-Jodhpur Section of NH-25; and the 47km long two lanes with a paved shoulder section of NH 58E.
