The latest trial covered a 4 km stretch between Maan Depot and Station PMR04, with trains running at 40 kmph to evaluate track performance and system readiness. Metro officials confirmed that the test was successful and part of a series of trials planned in the coming months.
A senior PMRDA official stated, “We have achieved 88 per cent progress in project completion and will continue with more trial runs along the stretch.”
Pune Metro Line-3, also known as the Puneri Metro, is a 23.3 km elevated corridor with 23 stations, designed to provide seamless connectivity between the IT hub of Hinjawadi and Civil Court in the city centre.
The project is being implemented under a public-private partnership (PPP) model by Pune IT City Metro Rail Ltd, a joint venture between TATA and Siemens. The project, previously delayed, is now targeted for completion by March 2026.
