Prayagraj To DDU Route To Get 12 Stations Redeveloped
Stations selected for redevelopment include Bheerpur, Meja Road, Unchdeeh, Manda Road, Jigna, Gaipura, Birohi and Sipura, with Pahara, Dagmagpur, Kailhat and Narayanpur Bazar also part of the scheme. Each station is to receive a new building fitted with contemporary passenger amenities and a dedicated platform for the forthcoming third line. Designs will permit entry from both sides of station buildings to ease passenger flow and reduce congestion during peak hours.
The plan also provides for new foot over bridges (FOBs) at several locations, with existing structures to be widened or upgraded where necessary. Track upgrades and other infrastructure enhancements are already in progress to reinforce the corridor for semi-high-speed operations and to ensure smoother, faster travel. Project works are being coordinated to align station redevelopment with track works so that disruption to services is minimised.
As part of the initial phase, IR has completed new station buildings and FOBs at Karchana and Mirzapur, demonstrating early progress in implementation. These completed works are intended to set the stage for systematic redevelopment of all 12 stations along the route and to facilitate integration of the third line. The railway authority expects the combined upgrades to support higher service frequency and improved passenger experience across the corridor.
