Prime Minister Flags Off Delhi?Faridabad Metro Extension
The total cost of the Badarpur to Escorts Mujesar section is about Rs 25 bn. The Haryana Government funded Rs 15.57 bn, the Centre contributed Rs 5.37 bn and the Delhi Metro Corporation provided Rs 4 bn towards the scheme. Project planners said the allocation reflects a shared investment model to expedite delivery. Construction progressed on schedule and safely.
The nine stations in the section are Sarai, NHPC Chowk, Mewala Maharajpur, Sector 28, Badkal Mor, Old Faridabad, Neelam Chowk Ajronda, Bata Chowk and Escorts Mujesar. All the stations are elevated and sit on either side of the Delhi?Mathura Road (NH?2). Authorities noted the elevated alignment reduced land acquisition requirements and construction disruptions.
A Haryana government spokesperson stated the corridor was 95 per cent indigenously built and should provide a safe, affordable, quick, comfortable, reliable, environment?friendly and sustainable transport facility. Officials indicated the project would support economic activity by improving commuter access to employment centres. Planners also highlighted expected reductions in travel time and vehicular emissions along the route.
Haryana Chief Minister ML Khattar expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for the extension and said it would advance the city’s connectivity with other national capital region towns. He further indicated that the Prime Minister would be announcing authorisation for a future link between Gurgaon and Faridabad by metro. Authorities said the new corridor would form part of broader efforts to integrate transit networks in the region.
