Pune's Mayor, Murlidhar Mohol, has instructed Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MahaMetro) to expedite the preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Chandani Chowk to Hinjewadi metro route. This directive aims to bolster Pune's metro connectivity and accelerate the development of crucial urban transportation infrastructure.

The proposed metro route, spanning from Chandni Chowk to Hinjewadi, is expected to alleviate traffic congestion along the busy Pune-Mumbai Highway corridor. It seeks to provide efficient and sustainable transit options for commuters travelling between the city centre and the prominent IT hub of Hinjewadi.

Mayor Mohol emphasised the significance of timely DPR completion to facilitate early implementation of the metro project. He underscored the city's growing need for robust public transport solutions to cater to its expanding population and burgeoning commuter demands.

Once finalized, the DPR will outline key aspects of the metro route's feasibility, including alignment, station locations, construction phases, and estimated project costs. The development of this metro corridor is poised to enhance Pune's connectivity, promote economic growth, and improve overall quality of life for residents.

MahaMetro officials have begun preliminary assessments and feasibility studies for the Chandani Chowk to Hinjewadi metro route, aligning with Pune's long-term urban development goals.
