Railway minister reviews passenger amenities and safety at Rail Bhawan
According to officials present at the meeting, several critical decisions were made to enhance passenger experience, focusing on maintaining safety equipment in trains, improving food quality, deep cleaning of trains and stations, and enhancing drinking water facilities.
"To enhance the reliability of safety equipment, it was decided to review specifications, installation practices, and maintenance protocols of key safety equipment through workshops organised by RDSO in collaboration with manufacturers," explained a senior railway official.
"In order to improve food quality, IRCTC and its associated agencies are upgrading base kitchens at 1,000 locations. This initiative is underway and has been prioritised to be completed within the next six months," the official added.
Other officials highlighted decisions to conduct targeted deep cleaning of pantry cars and storage areas, incorporating these tasks into regular maintenance schedules. Additionally, measures were outlined to increase cleaning and watering facilities during train journeys, with dedicated time allocated in the timetables for these essential activities.
