Railways Approves Rs 6,475.8 Million (mn) Projects In Gujarat And Bihar
The first project is a rail-over-rail flyover at Kosamba in Gujarat estimated at Rs 3,443.8 mn. The Kosamba-Umrapada section spans nine point two kilometre and is currently undergoing gauge conversion on the eastern side of the busy Mumbai-Vadodara main line. The flyover is designed to eliminate conflicts at junction points, facilitate seamless train movement and reduce delays caused by intersecting train operations.
The second project is a rail bypass at Bhagalpur in Bihar approved at Rs 3,032.0 mn to decongest the existing network in the region. The bypass will divert traffic away from saturated routes, enable smoother movement of passenger and freight trains and help reduce travel time. Officials indicated that the enhanced infrastructure is expected to support regional economic growth by improving freight connectivity and service punctuality.
Both projects are planned to be completed in a time bound manner with emphasis on high standards of safety and engineering. The Ministry emphasised that the works will benefit passenger services and freight operations and contribute to long term capacity enhancement. Implementation will follow established procedures to monitor progress and maintain quality throughout the construction phases, and operational resilience measures with stakeholder engagement.
