Railways Doubles Capacity On Uttar Pradesh Route
The merged service will provide direct rail connectivity between Chitrakutdham Karwi and Maa Belha Devi Dham Pratapgarh while also improving access to Kanpur, Lucknow and other destinations along the route. The change is expected to reduce the need for transfers and to simplify itineraries for travellers who previously required multiple services. Officials indicated that routing adjustments will better align services with passenger flows on the corridor.
The newly introduced daily passenger train between Itarsi and Madan Mahal is designed to enhance local and regional linkages within Madhya Pradesh and to support routine commuter movements. Running on a daily schedule, the service will offer an additional option for passengers travelling for work, education and local commerce. The MOR noted that the service complements the merged route by strengthening connectivity across neighbouring states.
Railway authorities said the measures form part of a wider effort to refine timetables and to optimise utilisation of rolling stock without compromising safety or punctuality. The ministry added that such adjustments are aimed at improving access to religious, administrative and commercial centres served by the routes. Detailed operational timings and ticketing arrangements will be communicated through official channels as the changes are implemented.
