Rajasthan Allocates Rs 120B for Jaipur Metro Line 2 Expansion

The Rajasthan government has allocated Rs 120 billion for the construction of Jaipur Metro Line 2, which will connect Sitapura, Ambabari, and Vidhyadhar Nagar.

The announcement was made by Finance Minister Diya Kumari, who confirmed that the project will be implemented by the newly formed Rajasthan Metro Railway Corporation (RMRC) — a joint venture between the central and state governments.

Speaking about the plan, Kumari said, “RMRC would undertake the construction of Metro Line 2 connecting the Sitapura Industrial Area and Ambabari, further extending till Vidhyadhar Nagar. The project would cost Rs 120 billion.”

Following the announcement, RMRC has begun work on a revised Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Sitapura to Ambabari stretch. Meanwhile, JMRC is preparing a separate DPR for the Ambabari to Vidhyadhar Nagar section.

A metro official shared that the DPR is "virtually complete" and added, “It’s now up to the state government to approve the report and clear the way for construction to begin.”
