In preparation for the Nashik–Trimbakeshwar Simhastha 2027, the Ministry of Railways has begun early planning, drawing on lessons from the Prayagraj Maha Kumbh 2025. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Minister of State Ravneet Singh Bittu recently reviewed the progress with senior officials.

A total of Rs 10.11 billion has been allocated for 65 projects, 33 of which have already been sanctioned. These works will enhance five key stations — Nashik Road, Devlali, Odha, Kherwadi, and Kasbe Sukene — to manage the expected influx of 30 million pilgrims. Upgrades will include new platforms, stabling lines, foot overbridges, and improved passenger amenities.

To handle the surge in travel demand, long-distance and MEMU trains will be deployed from major cities, alongside a dedicated Jyotirlinga circuit train.

Advanced crowd control measures will include large holding areas, AI-assisted train scheduling, and real-time coordination through CCTV-monitored command centres.

The Ministry is working closely with the Maharashtra government, with a joint review by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis scheduled. All rail-related works are expected to be completed within two years, aiming to ensure smooth, safe, and efficient transportation during Simhastha 2027.
