Gurugram, known for its skyline of multinational offices and luxury developments, is set to receive a transformative boost with its own independent Metro network. The first phase of the Gurugram Metro project is progressing rapidly, with six out of eight bidding firms shortlisted by Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL). The financial proposals are currently under review, and a major tender worth Rs 12.86 billion is expected to be awarded by the end of July.

Phase 1 of the project will cover a 15.22 km elevated corridor featuring 15 Metro stations and a 1.85 km spur connecting to the Dwarka Expressway. A ramp will also be constructed to provide access to the proposed depot at Sector 33. This phase will link Millennium City Centre to Delhi Metro's DMRC network via an interchange.

Key stations in the initial stretch include Sector 45, Cyber Park (Sector 46), Sector 47, Subhash Chowk, Sector 48, Sector 33, Hero Honda Chowk, Udyog Vihar Phase-6, Sector 10, Sector 37, Basai, Sector 9, and Sector 101.

This ambitious infrastructure project marks Gurugram’s first fully self-reliant metro system. Presently, the city depends on Rapid Metro and the Delhi Metro for urban transport. The new network is poised to significantly enhance intra-city connectivity, ease traffic congestion, and improve transit access across key economic zones.
