Redevelopment of Secunderabad railway station is progressing rapidly, with the new Railway Protection Force (RPF) building already completed. Construction is actively underway on several key components, including the air concourse, multi-level car parking (MLCP), foot over bridges (FOBs), elevators, the north-side main building, and an electric sub-station on the south side.
The RPF building, along with a temporary booking office, is among the early completed elements of the project. Work is advancing steadily on the basement construction on the southern side, foundation work, and the new foot over bridge at the Kazipet end.
According to South Central Railway (SCR) officials, most of the foundation work on the south side is complete. The redevelopment project, awarded to Girdharilal Construction Private Limited, is valued at approximately Rs 7.2 billion, with a scheduled completion by late 2025 or early 2026.
Two upgraded 33 KV electrical substations will replace the earlier 11 KV units to meet the station’s increased power requirements. A six-floor MLCP is being built on the northern side, with over 50 per cent of the foundation and structural work already finished.
SCR authorities emphasised that the redevelopment is being carried out with minimal disruption to passengers. The revamped station will feature modern architectural design and world-class passenger amenities. Officials added that the construction is being closely monitored to ensure strict adherence to safety standards.
