Southern Railway Adds First Vistadome Coach to Madurai-Guruvayur Express

Southern Railway has introduced its first Vistadome coach on the Madurai-Guruvayur-Madurai Express, marking an expansion of passenger amenities and rail tourism services in the region. The coach has been added on a temporary trial basis to Train Nos. 16327 and 16328.

The Vistadome coach will operate from Madurai between October 22, 2026 and January 15, 2027. It will be attached to services departing from Madurai on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays during the trial period.

For services departing from Guruvayur, the coach will operate from October 23, 2026 to January 16, 2027. These services will run with the Vistadome coach on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays, according to Southern Railway.

The revised train composition includes one Executive AC Chair Car Vistadome coach, one AC Three Tier coach, two Sleeper Class coaches and seven General Second Class coaches. The formation will also include one Second Class coach designed to be accessible to Divyangjan passengers and one Luggage-cum-Brake Van.

The Vistadome coach is intended to enhance the travel experience by providing passengers with a broader viewing environment during the journey. Its inclusion on the Madurai-Guruvayur route also supports the railway’s focus on combining passenger services with tourism-oriented travel.

Advance bookings for the revised services are open. Passengers planning to travel during the trial period can book seats for the specified operating days through the railway’s reservation channels, subject to availability. The temporary schedule and coach attachment will remain in effect until the respective January 2027 dates announced by Southern Railway.
