The structure is expected to improve traffic flow and reduce idling times for commercial and private vehicles and should enhance connectivity along the industrial and residential corridors. The development is intended to benefit 0.1 mn residents of nearby localities including Kodungaiyur, Korukkupet, Tondiarpet, Ezhil Nagar, Kannadasan Nagar and Nehru Nagar.
The proposed park will be developed over an extent of 19,128 square feet and will include landscaped greenery, a walking track, seating arrangements and lighting to improve public amenities near the bridge. Officials indicated that the combined interventions of grade separation and public space development are aimed at easing congestion and improving urban liveability in the area. The projects form part of wider efforts to replace level crossings and modernise road infrastructure in the region.
