Telangana Sends Rs 196 B Metro Phase II-B Plan To Centre

430x85 The Telangana government has forwarded Hyderabad Metro Phase II-B to the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, enclosing all detailed project reports. The scheme spans 86.1 km across three corridors and carries an estimated outlay of Rs 195.79 billion.

Funding structure

The joint-venture model mirrors Phase II-A:

  • Telangana Rs 58.74 billion (30 per cent)
  • Union Government Rs 35.24 billion (18 per cent)
  • International debt Rs 93.98 billion (48 per cent)
  • PPP Rs 7.83 billion (4 per cent)

Earlier, Hyderabad sought clearance for Phase II-A (76.4 km, Rs 242.69 billion). Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has urged swift Union approval, citing the need to relieve road congestion and support sustainable growth in the fast-expanding city.

Phase I delivered 69.2 km of track at Rs 220 billion, the world’s largest metro built under a PPP model.
