Telangana Sets FY-End Deadline For Hyderabad Metro Takeover

The Telangana government has directed officials to complete the process of taking over Hyderabad Metro Rail from Larsen & Toubro by the end of the current financial year. Reviewing the status of the proposed takeover on Tuesday, Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao stressed that the transition must be carried out smoothly and expeditiously in line with the agreement reached between the state and L&T.

He clarified that the process should proceed without disrupting existing agreements and asked officials to implement planned actions in a systematic manner over the next 100 days. The transaction advisor, IDBI, has been instructed to finalise its report at the earliest to facilitate completion of the takeover.

Rao said L&T must extend full cooperation during the transition and directed Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited Managing Director Sarfaraz Ahmad to prepare proposals related to operations and maintenance after the transfer.

The review meeting was attended by Advisor (Urban Transport) to the state government NVS Reddy, Special Chief Secretary Vikas Raj, L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad Limited Managing Director KVB Reddy, representatives from IDBI and other officials.
