Temporary Walkway to Link Mumbai Airport's T2 with Metro Line 3 Station

To address commuter inconvenience, a temporary walkway will soon connect Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport's Terminal 2 (T2) with the nearby underground station of Mumbai Metro Line 3. Currently, passengers spend nearly 15 minutes navigating a circuitous route on foot due to ongoing construction for Metro Line 7A, which will link Metro Line 7 (Gundavali-Dahisar) to T2.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), overseeing the project, aims to complete Metro Line 7A by December 2026. In the meantime, the proposed walkway will streamline access between the Metro station and the airport, significantly reducing travel time for passengers.

Senior officials from the urban development department, Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC), MMRDA, Maha Mumbai Metro Operations Corporation Ltd (MMMOCL), and Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL) inspected the site on November 26. "Aseem Kumar Gupta, principal secretary, urban development department, has directed all agencies to expedite the walkway's construction above the Metro 7A site to enhance commuter experience," a Metro official confirmed.

The temporary structure is expected to provide much-needed relief until Metro Line 7A becomes operational.
