Tenders Soon for Rs 80 Billion Gaimukh–Shivaji Chowk Metro Line

The tender process for Mumbai Metro’s Line 10 between Gaimukh in Thane and Shivaji Chowk in Mira-Bhayander is set to begin by 15 December, Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik announced recently. The Rs 80 billion corridor will pave the way for improved connectivity and reduced congestion in one of the region’s busiest traffic zones.

Following a review meeting with senior officials from MMRDA, Thane Municipal Corporation, and Mira-Bhayander Municipal Corporation, it was confirmed that the 9.7-km fully elevated route will run via Gaimukh Retibunder, Chena Gaon, Varsova Gaon, Kashimira, and Miragaon before terminating at Shivaji Chowk.

The corridor is expected to ease vehicular load along Ghodbunder Road and cater to an estimated 4.5 lakh daily commuters by 2031, enabling faster travel to Mumbai and Mira-Bhayander. Interchange facilities at Gaimukh (Line 4A) and Miragaon (Line 9) will enhance integration with the wider metro network. A dedicated depot is planned at Mogharpada to support operations.
