The role of a project manager in successful execution

The term “Project Management” itself speaks volumes of the humongous attributes that
are related with a project. But in a nutshell, let me brief in a micro level. It starts in-fact prior
to the actual inception of the project wherein the DPR is made, floated, and finally
sanctioned. This is followed by acquiring the required funds through EQUITY, and also
through PTA. A basic programme is prepared, and the key dates are assigned for typical
works related to the project and a flow chart is prepared based on the various activities
(partial and total floats). Finally, various tenders – depending on the kind of work – are
called and awarded to the respective contractor(s) for commencement of the works. The
workflow parameters are maintained and monitored on our 5D BIM platform, and through
SAP, wherein we have the provision of uploading drawings, (1 to 3D), updating and revising
the Key Date’s (KD’s) as per the access provided (primavera-4D), and finally asset tagging
the product that is made into use for the project. In fact, we have also incorporated the 6D
platform as well wherein the O&M has also been digitalised.
