TRSL Wins Rs 8.57 billion contract for Surat Metro cars

Titagarh Rail Systems Ltd (TRSL) has secured a contract to design and supply 72 standard gauge cars for Phase I of the Surat Metro Rail project, with an estimated contract value of Rs 8.57 billion.

According to a statement from TRSL, the contract execution is scheduled to begin one and a half years after the signing date, with the supply expected to be completed within 2.5 years after the contract is signed. The Surat Metro Rail Project comprises two corridors spanning 40.45 kilometres and encompassing 38 stations, with a total estimated cost of Rs 120.20 billion.

TRSL will manufacture these metro cars at its Uttarpara facility in Hooghly, West Bengal, where it is also producing full aluminium body Metro Coaches for the Pune Metro. Furthermore, the company has received a Letter of Acceptance for the supply of 30 standard gauge cars for Phase II of the Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project.
