The 44th All India Major Ports Bodybuilding and Weightlifting Championships 2025–26 were inaugurated at the Sagaramala Convention Centre in Visakhapatnam by the Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA). The opening ceremony drew teams and athletes from major ports across the country for competition in bodybuilding and weightlifting events. The event brought together port employees and sportspersons in an inter-port contest aimed at promoting fitness and competitive sports within the port community.

Roshni Aparanji Korati, deputy chairperson of the VPA, formally opened the championship in the presence of heads of departments and port officials. Participating teams represented Chennai Port Authority, Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority, Mumbai Port Authority, Deendayal Port Authority and Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port Authority alongside the host. The presence of multiple authorities underscored the scale of the meet and the emphasis on inter-port camaraderie.

The inaugural proceedings included a march past by the teams, the unveiling of the Major Ports Sports Control Board (MPSCB) flag and an oath-taking ceremony by team captains, followed by the formal declaration that the championship was open. The sequence of ceremonial activities followed established protocols for national sporting meets and highlighted discipline and sportsmanship among the participants. Organisers arranged the schedule to accommodate contests across the designated categories.

The championships feature contests in bodybuilding and weightlifting across the scheduled days as teams vie for honours in their respective divisions. Officials and departmental representatives remain engaged in overseeing fair conduct and technical supervision of events.
