Ambuja Cements Limited, part of the Adani Portfolio, has announced plans to establish a cement grinding unit within the industrial estate of Adani Gangavaram Port in Andhra Pradesh. The eight-hectare facility will be developed without any new land acquisition, as it lies within the port’s designated industrial zone.
According to a company statement, the upcoming plant is being engineered with a strong focus on sustainability and environmental stewardship. It will use industrial by-products such as slag and fly ash sourced from nearby steel and power plants, promoting circular economy practices and reducing waste.
Essential raw materials including clinker and gypsum will be transported via rail and sea routes, recognised as the most sustainable freight modes, thereby minimising carbon emissions. Categorised as an Orange Category project for its low environmental impact, the facility will operate without fuel combustion or chemical processing.
The grinding unit will feature advanced dust control systems—including high-efficiency baghouses, bag filters, and mechanised road sweepers—to ensure a dust-free operational environment. Designed for minimal water consumption, the plant will function on a zero liquid discharge model, safeguarding local water resources and preserving the ecological balance.
This initiative supports Andhra Pradesh’s infrastructure growth goals while aligning with Ambuja’s national expansion strategy, which has seen the company surpass 100 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) in production capacity during FY25.
With Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)-validated net-zero commitments and a CDP Leadership score of A–, Ambuja Cements continues to demonstrate that industrial growth and environmental responsibility can progress in tandem.
