APSEZ Wins Bid to Develop Two Berths at Paradip Port
The CQ-I and CQ-II berths are expected to add 18 mn t of mechanised dry bulk capacity to APSEZ’s portfolio. The addition will increase the company’s total capacity to 671 mn t from 653 mn t, strengthening its ability to handle large volumes of dry bulk cargo.
The project will include mechanised cargo-handling systems, deep-draft berths and large-scale storage facilities. These assets will support the handling of coal, limestone and other dry bulk commodities, while enabling more efficient movement of cargo through one of India’s key eastern ports.
According to company officials, the Paradip project will expand APSEZ’s reach across industrial and manufacturing clusters in eastern and central India. The terminal is also expected to improve the company’s integrated port, logistics and marine services by connecting cargo flows with its wider transport infrastructure network.
With the addition of Paradip, APSEZ’s network will comprise 16 ports and terminals along India’s 11,000 km coastline. Chief executive officer and whole-time director Ashwani Gupta said the project would strengthen the company’s ability to provide integrated port, logistics and marine solutions across the country. The development is aligned with APSEZ’s target of handling 1 bn t of cargo annually by 2030.
