Centre Advances Cruise Tourism Development Along Konkan Coast

The Ministry of Tourism has constituted a Task Force to support the development of cruise tourism along the Konkan coast. The committee is chaired by the Secretary, Tourism, and co-chaired by the Secretary, Shipping, with the Tourism Secretary of Maharashtra included as a member to strengthen inter-agency coordination.

To assist states and central agencies in developing tourism infrastructure, including cruise-tourism facilities, the Ministry provides Central Financial Assistance under the Central Agencies Scheme and the Swadesh Darshan Scheme. Maharashtra has received funding support for four cruise-related projects through these programmes.

All proposals seeking environmental and Coastal Regulation Zone clearance are assessed by the Government of India in accordance with applicable laws and regulatory processes.
