Cochin Shipyard wins new order from Adani's Ocean Sparkle in Udupi

The new 70-tonne bollard pull tugs would have a length of 33 metres, a beam of 12.2 metres, and a draft of 4.2 metres.

Udupi Cochin Shipyard (UCSL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of India's leading shipyard Cochin Shipyard (CSL), had secured a significant order from Ocean Sparkle, a prominent Indian tug operator under Adani Harbour Services. The contract for constructing three ASD (Azimuth Stern Drive) tugs with a bollard pull power of 70 tonnes had been signed by Harikumar A, CEO of UCSL, and Hiren Shah, MD and CEO of OSL, as stated by CSL.

Previously, UCSL had contracted to construct two 62-tonne bollard pull ASD tugs for OSL. These tugs had been delivered ahead of the contractual delivery dates and had been deployed by OSL at Paradeep Port and New Mangalore Port.

The new 70-tonne bollard pull tugs would feature two main engines of 1838 kW, thrusters with a diametre of 2.7 metres, 150 kW diesel generators, a forward towing winch, an aft winch, a 3-tonne deck crane, and an external fire fighting system (FIFI-1-2800 cubic metres per hour).
