CONCOR Signs MoU With PSA Mumbai For Rail Cargo Links
The memorandum sets out objectives to facilitate rail movement of domestic and cabotage cargo as well as customs-cleared export-import containers between PSA Mumbai and CONCOR terminals. It envisages optimal utilisation of available yard space and rail handling infrastructure at PSA Mumbai for aggregation, staging and evacuation of cargo, and the promotion of rail evacuation to reduce road congestion. The partners will aim to improve turnaround times and cost efficiency in cargo movement through coordinated operations.
The MOU provides for the operation of scheduled container train services between PSA Mumbai and CONCOR terminals, subject to operational feasibility and regulatory approvals, and for exploring a broader strategic alliance covering logistics and terminal-related activities. Implementation will depend on operational planning and clearances, and the companies will assess service schedules, terminal handling and capacity allocation as part of phased roll out. The arrangement is expected to strengthen multimodal logistics connectivity and support efficient cargo movement between ports and hinterland locations.
CONCOR will be referred to as CONCOR and PSA Mumbai as PSA Mumbai, while Inland Container Depots will be referred to as ICDs. The collaboration is framed to support supply chain resilience and to encourage shift from road to rail for eligible cargo flows, thereby addressing congestion and environmental aims. The organisations have indicated that technical and commercial details will be worked out through committees and pilots.
