Deendayal Port Launches Key Infrastructure Projects

The Deendayal Port Authority (DPA) in Kandla has initiated several key maritime infrastructure projects to improve operational efficiency, safety, and seafarer welfare. Minister of State for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Shantanu Thakur, inaugurated the developments, joined by Members of Parliament and state legislators.

The projects include the foundation stone for an international-standard seafarer building at Kandla, designed to offer modern amenities and a comfortable environment for seafarers. In a move to strengthen logistics, the extension of the railway line to berths 13 to 16 has also been initiated.

Further enhancements include the launch of a telescopic gangway at oil jetty seven, providing safer access for crews, and a new fire brigade station within the cargo jetty area, aimed at strengthening emergency response capabilities.

These efforts reflect DPA’s strategic alignment with the Viksit Bharat @2047 vision and its commitment to delivering world-class port infrastructure while prioritising the needs of maritime professionals.
